One of our stops on our cruise aboard the #CarnivalCelebration in February 2023 was Roatan. We went to Roatan 15+ years ago and it was not a good port to go to, things have changed, and it was a very lovely port to visit!

Shopping Pros:

  • Shopping directly outside the port
  • Variety of shopping (mostly tourist shops)
  • Live music in shopping area
  • Hand rolled cigar shop in shopping area
  • Wifi available for purchase (if you want)
  • A lot of wildlife – saw hummingbirds, tropical birds, etc.
  • Felt safe

Beach Pros:

  • Very nice beach to the right of the port
  • Free entrance (not all-inclusive)
  • Has a restaurant (for a fee), bar (for a fee), nice restrooms for changing and cleaning off, feet washing stations throughout the area
  • Free lounge chairs throughout the area (many of them are shaded)
  • Option to rent padded lounge chairs closer to the beach (get there early if you want this – were filled up when we arrived)
  • Nice beach
  • Nature walk available to get you to the beach
  • Ski-lift available to be taken to the beach (for a charge)

Cons:

  • Quite a bit of a walk to the beach and shopping area
  • When in the water, you have to be very careful as there are quite a few sudden drops (may go from touching the ground to not VERY quickly)
  • Beach can become very busy very quickly – try to get there early
  • Towels are not included – so be sure to bring yours from the cruise ship

RATING:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

4.5/5 STARS ~ only negative was the long walk

Happy Traveling!!
