If not adequately planned for, traveling can cost a lot of money. However; trips do not always have to break the bank.
Below are a few tips we will share to help your trip remain budget conscious:
Plan FAR in Advance:
The longer you plan for your trip – the better!
Research Discounts and Deals:
Many times the city you are visiting will have a website with all kinds of deals and discounts for hotels, rental cars, food, and activitiesTop 15 Cruise Deals Are Now Available at Cruise Critic!
Discount Websites:
Check out websites offering discounts to save on hotels and activities while in your destination!
Gift Cards:
Look for discounted gift cards. Sometimes big box stores like Sam’s Club, BJs, and Costco sell gift cards at reduced prices. I know these stores usually sell Disney gift cards at a reduced price.
Another gift card tip is buy gift cards the day or two after Thanksgiving. Gift cards can be significantly reduced during this time period.
Speaking of the holidays – put travel gift cards on your holiday list! Instead of getting something the giver “thinks you will like” – get what you really want – a gift card to use for travel!
Payment Plans:
Many times cruise lines will offer payment plans when booking your trip. Sure, you can’t afford to pay the entire $2,000 up front, but spaced out over 6 months makes it a lot more manageable.
Credit Cards:
You don’t need to have the money in the bank to take a trip. If all of your family is going on this trip, do not be the one to miss out on all the amazing memories. Put the trip on your credit card and pay it back overtime. ** Please be responsible with credit card debt – it can be a serious problem! **
Happy Traveling! xoxo Megan & Sean
