Going on a weeklong cruise and knowing you will be away from Target (and all the comforts of home) for a whole week can be scary! While there are some stores onboard (for some of these items), not all of your favorites will be there… and if they are you might be paying an “arm-and-a-leg” for them. Below are some of our top 10 cruise essentials for a Caribbean cruise:

Just want to see my list? Your wish is my command!

  1. Passport, ID, Credit Cards & Cash
  2. Bathing suit
  3. Beach towel clips (Such a lifesaver!)
  4. Snorkel
  5. Motion Sickness Meds (This is essential if you think you may get motion sickness)
  6. Laundry Detergent (AMAZING and so easy!)
  7. Poo-Pourri (You don’t want to be THAT person)
  8. Water bottles
  9. Wrinkle-Release Spray (Must have for formal night!)
  10. Tennis shoes

Now, let me provide further explanation!

1. Passport, ID, Credit Cards & Cash

You will need all of these! You will need the passport & ID to get on and off the ship, Credit Cards & Cash to spend in port, and Cash to spend onboard at the casino! (We LOVE the casino!!)

2. Bathing Suits

This is pretty self-explanatory! A tip I will suggest is to make sure you bring your bathing suit that you feel comfortable in as you will be in your bathing suit a lot of the time… that is, if you want to be! The cool thing about cruises is you can do whatever you want to do!

3. Beach towel clips

You will want these if you plan on lounging by the pool or beach! These hold your towel in place and are such a lifesaver!

4. Snorkel

Since the Caribbean water is so blue and magical, you will want to explore what’s underwater! Grab yourself a snorkel and get out exploring the underwater animals and plants!

5. Motion Sickness Meds

If you are anything like my husband, Sean, you may want to purchase some motion sickness medication prior to your trip. Any type of motion in the ocean gets to him, and MAY get to you also. Be prepared by bringing these meds with you because they can get very expensive if you end up needing to purchase them on the ship. Sean uses the motion sickness medication listed above and it works wonders!

6. Laundry Detergent

If you are going on a week-long cruise, chances are you will want to wash some (if not all) of your clothes. No need to spend an arm-and-a-leg purchasing detergent onboard, buy some prior to your trip! These laundry detergent strips (yes, only a small few inches) are so handy, easy to pack, and very inexpensive!

7. Poo-Pourri

Please save yourself the embarrassment and purchase this!

8. Water Bottles

As you may know, you get free water, coffee, and tea throughout your cruise. Yes, the cruise lines do provide cups for you to use, but they are usually pretty small, so you end up going to get refills pretty often. Save yourself some time and bring a water bottle with you so you don’t have to miss out on all the fun cruise activities planned!

9. Wrinkle-Release Spray

There will most likely be a formal night on your cruise (maybe even two formal nights) so why not dress up, have a drink, and get some pictures taken?! Don’t be the person to go to formal night with a wrinkled shirt AND/OR don’t be the person to wait until the last minute to find the one iron onboard – just buy the spray and save everyone the hassle!

10. Tennis Shoes

Have you seen some of these new cruise ships with over 16 floors, rock-climbing walls, ice skating rinks, roller coasters, and movie theaters?? Yes, they are THAT big! Do yourself a favor and bring tennis shoes! You might not think about these since you are going on a Caribbean cruise with high temperatures – but trust me with these big ships, excursions that require a lot of walking, and exploring new cities – these will save your feet!!
